Evana® Heavy Period Relief Tablets

Evana®  heavy period medication. Over-the-counter tranexamic acid tablets that help break the cycle of heavy, disruptive periods.

Before you buy, you'll need to complete a short consultation to make sure Evana is suitable for you.

£14.95

  • Evana® should only be taken on the days when your period is heavy. The recommended dosage is two tablets, taken three times a day (6 days) for as long as needed but for a maximum of four days. If your bleeding is not reduced, you can take an extra two tablets at night, but do not take more than eight tablets in one day.

Evana can be taken for as long as your periods remain regular and heavy.
However, if you have taken the medication as directed for 3 consecutive periods and you have not noticed a reduction in your menstrual bleeding, you should seek advice from your pharmacist or doctor. They might recommend an alternative treatment.

  • Evana’s active ingredient is tranexamic acid, which is known as an anti-fibrinolytic medicine, which makes the blood stickier. During your period, the blood in the lining of the uterus binds together to form plugs. In some people these plugs do not stay in place for long enough and this can cause excessive bleeding. Tranexamic acid helps to keep these plugs in place by reducing their breakdown and so reducing the amount of blood lost during your period.

  • Tranexamic acid is a non-hormonal treatment which reduces the volume of blood lost during a period, by slowing down the breakdown of plugs. Evana® can reduce blood loss by up to 60%, however it does not completely stop your period.

  • Evana® can be taken by those who experience periods and are aged between 18 and 45 years.

  • Evana® and Ultravana® are able to be taken together and are not known to interact. However we recommend speaking to your pharmacist before purchasing both to make sure they are both suitable for you.

  • Evana can reduce menstrual bleeding by up to 60% and in a usage study most women reported a significant reduction in heavy menstrual bleeding within the first cycle of use.

A small proportion of women found it took several cycles for Evana to reduce heavy menstrual bleeding, but if menstrual bleeding isn't reduced after three menstrual cycles, please consult your doctor.

Tranexamic acid for heavy periods does not impact fertility.

  • Please fill in our online consultation form to see if Evana is suitable for you.

Our qualified pharmacists check all orders of these heavy period tablets before they are approved.
